East Texas firefighters don't know what caused several explosions at a home Wednesday in Angelina County. They happened just south of Zavalla. The owner was able to get out before it was too late.
Authorities say there were three explosions inside the home. The fire quickly spread to the woods, putting other nearby homes in danger.
Richard Brunk, Zavalla fire chief, said, "I found what appeared to be two wooden structures that had been joined in the middle, heavily involved, flames through the roof. We pulled a line, tried to contain it, and then it exploded three times on us. The second one threw a fire ball taller than the trees, blowing debris everywhere."
The owner believes a propane tank inside the home exploded. Several volunteer fire departments helped put out the fire.
