Blame Rita: no cable, no problem -- Astros on outdoor screen

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) _ Game One of the World Series between the

Houston Astros and the White Sox will be played under the stars in

Chicago.

Some Texans still without cable T-V service, or even

electricity, following Hurricane Rita will be seeing tomorrow

night's game the same way -- under the stars -- in Beaumont.

Time Warner Cable and a Fox T-V station are joining forces to

show the game on a 20-foot-wide outdoor screen in the Crockett

Street entertainment district.

Customer representatives will be on hand to answer questions

about progress in restoring cable service.

Rita made landfall September 24th about 30 miles away -- near

Sabine (suh-BEEN') Pass.

Time Warner Cable says it's the company's way of saying thanks

for being patient while crews work to restore service.

Spokesman Gary Underwood says most Time Warner Cable customers

in the area should be on-line by the end of October, with complete

restoration shortly after that.
