Cellular One Problems

by Jessica Cervantez

Dozens of disgruntled customers have been lining up at the Cellular One store in Lufkin.

About six months ago Cellular One bought out AT&T. The switch was made over the weekend. But, apparently, it was not a smooth one for East Texas customers.

On Saturday, hundreds of customers lost their cell phone service. Many phones stopped working. Some couldn't receive calls others couldn't make calls.

Monday, workers were on hand trying to fix problems. The CEO of Cellular One was also upset about the transition. He says there were a few bumps in the road, but they are trying to get them fixed as soon as possible.

Craig Sagetz, said, "We're experiencing a couple, mostly related to our billing platform not being up, so we're not able to make changes as quickly as we want, and we're not able to activate sim cards as quickly as we want."

Some customers say they waited hours to get help. Some are planning to switch their cell service.

Carlos Olvera, a customer, said, "I got here at 8:30 in the morning and the systems were down. They got up at 10:30, I'm still having problems."

Cellular One has between 40-thousand and 50-thousand customers in East Texas.
