Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss is releasing the names and pictures of a couple he fears may have harmed a 22-month-old baby boy. One of them is 22-year-old Amber McEntire, the baby's mother. She's been in jail before for drug violations but, today, is wanted for injury to a child. So is 26-year-old Darrell Yates III, the boy's stepfather.

The couple lived on Press road, but they haven't been seen for more than a week. Neither has the child, Harold Cheyenne Harris. The boy's birth father, Kevin Harris, suspects foul play because the mother falsely claimed the child was with him. "I don't understand why she would say he's somewhere and he's not there, and why he's with me, and he hasn't been with me. I mean, why wouldn't you say he's with you if he's okay and fine. Why wouldn't you just state that. Calm everybody's nerves. I'm just kind of preparing for the worst right now and praying for the best."

Grandparents from both sides of the family are helping in the investigation. McEntire's parents contacted Child Protective Services. Sheriff Thomas Kerss said, "We do have some witness statements that we have taken that lead us to believe that the child has been exposed to some harm, and may or may not be alive."

The sheriff says there are rumors that McEntire and her spouse could be in Houston, Brownsville, or Mexico. You can call Crimestoppers or any sheriff's or police department with information about the case.
