United Way Campaign Ends Successfully

The United Way of Angelina County has exceeded this year's campaign goal.

Fundraisers set out to collect $640,000. They went above and beyond their objective and raised more than $669,000. That's 105 percent of this year's goal.

Out of all the teams that participated, Lufkin Industries brought in the most money. Employees dug deep into their pockets and raised a staggering quarter of a million dollars.

Ty Thornton said, "Lufkin Industries employees and retirees are a big part of that. We're excited about the opportunity to contribute. Every year, we continue to see the generosity displayed by our employees and retirees."

The money will be divided among almost two dozen agencies in Angelina County, including the Angelina Alliance for Children, the Hope Center of North Lufkin, and the Women's Shelter of East Texas.
