Primary Student Brings Gun To School

A five-year-old boy who brought a gun to school in Lufkin this week will be disciplined by the school.

Authorities are calling it an accident. The student was on his way to school at Garrett Primary and had the gun in his backpack. He apparently did not know the gun was there.

His father reportedly had thrown the gun away and the boy's little brother got it out of the trash and put the pistol in the five-year-old's backpack.

The gun was not loaded. The school district continues to investigate.
