Law Enforcement Community Remembers Fallen Officer

By Larry Little

Saturday, the City of Huntington paid tribute to a police officer gunned down on a routine traffic stop last year.

Twenty months after the death of Huntington police officer John Logan, the pain still runs deep for friends and family, but they are grateful to see him honored.

"It was very moving and special to see the tribute made by his fellow officers and the community he served and loved." said C. J. Lejuene, Officer Logan's uncle.

Emotions of sadness filled those who knew Officer Logan as they gathered in Centennial Park to honor a man who made the ultimate sacrifice for this East Texas community.

Though saddened, joy and excitement filled the crowd when Logan's fellow officers unveiled a tall granite stone in memory of Officer Logan.

Folks in the city of huntington donated their services and money to make the tribute to officer john logan possible.

Logan was the father of three young boys.
