An overnight convenience store robbery was quickly solved, thanks to a Nacogdoches police officer being in the right place, at the right time.
Nacogdoches Police Officer John Allen was on patrol when he saw a man running from the KP Store at the corner of East Austin and North Street. He then observed the owner running out, saying he had been robbed at gunpoint.
Allen began a foot pursuit. About a block away, he caught Edward Morgan, 31, of Stafford. The felon is in jail for aggravated robbery and felony possession of a firearm.
Police say an accomplice is Melissa Brewer, 28, of Nacogdoches. She's under arrest, too, for aggravated robbery and the unlawful transfer of weapons.
