When freezing temperatures hit, you need to make sure your home is ready. If not, you risk thousands of dollars in damages.
Alan Krusemark, the Home Depot store manager, said, "You can have pipes freeze and they can bust. It's just not worth it when you can be preventative."
For just under $5, you can find some simple items at the store that could go a long way.
Krusemark said, "We have a faucet cover that you can put on your faucet outside, and you can keep it on there until the spring."
Even if you don't want to spend money, there are some easy things you can do yourself.
Krusemark said, "Leave a little bit of water on, [or] you can crack your cabinets open."
With a huge jump in fuel costs this winter, you can expect to pay between 20% to 30% more in energy costs. So, anything you can do to winterize your home and bring those costs down could save you big bucks.
