Ways To Quit Smoking

Thursday is the Great American Smoke-out, where smokers are asked to kick the bad habit for at least a day, but, hopefully, permanently.

Just last year there were more than 44-million smokers in the United States. And 70% of them said they wanted to quit. But, for many who have been smoking for years, quitting maybe difficult.

But, there are some ways to get started. First you need to set a quit date. Thursday is a good day, since it's the Great American Smoke-Out. Also, get support from family and friends. You should stay away from anyone or anywhere there is smoking. Get rid of cigarettes, lighters, and ashtrays, anything that may give you the urge. Be prepared for a relapse. Don't give up if you start smoking again. It often takes a person several tries before they actually quit.
