FEMA Now Offering One-Way Tickets To Evacuees

The deadline for one-way tickets for Texas hurricane evacuees who want to go back home is almost here.

Storm victims and their families living in shelters, hotels, and motels have until New Year's Eve to get a free one-way ticket. FEMA will give a plane, train or bus ticket to Katrina and Rita evacuees, but applicants must provide proof their homes are ready to be lived in again.

Representatives will tell you how to submit that information when you call.

Travel is restricted to the 48 states in the continental U.S. To apply for a ticket, call 1-800-621-FEMA.
