Lufkin police have received more information about a woman who apparently tried to scam at least two East Texas women.
One of the incidents happened in the HEB parking lot off Timberland. An elderly woman says a woman approached her there telling her she found a bag of money. She offers to split the money, but asks for cash first to pay taxes on it.
Police have now heard from two victims who say they declined the offer.
Authorities are warning people to watch out for holiday scams.
Lt. Greg Denman, with the Lufkin Police Department, said, "If it sounds too good to be true then it probably it is. No one is going to give you something for nothing."
