Bringing tourism dollars to East Texas can be a big economic benefit. Shopping and fuel are two of the main areas tourists tend to splurge on while they're traveling through the region.
Tuesday, some folks in Lufkin learned about several of the tourism opportunities available along the Neches River.
Ted Eubanks, president of Fermata, Inc., said, "I would argue that East Texas has as many resources as better known places like the Adirondacks in New York. We've just never taken advantage of them in a way that has elevated our stature."
