Memorial Hospital Gets New Helicopter Service

by Jessica Cervantez

For six months, Memorial Health System of East Texas in Lufkin has been without a helicopter service, but, things have changed. The hospital has launched a new partnership with the helicopter service PHI Air Medical. A Petroleum Helicopter Incorporated team will be stationed at the hospital to be able to provide the best care to patients.

The hospital had previously used Goldstar's helicopter service but, when they filed for bankruptcy, that forced the hospital to look at other services.

Bryant Krenek, the CEO of Memorial Health System, said, "We kind of used a mixture of all the services, and we took the time to evaluate who we wanted. We picked PHI, not only because of their fine equipment, but also because of the mobile training vehicle equipment that we have behind us."

The mobile training vehicle would be used to help train EMS and other hospital employees.
