The ticket box opened at 7 a.m. Wednesday morning with a line of anxious Lufkin Panther Football fans waiting in line for the hottest ticket in town. It's the much anticipated re-match between the Panthers and the Southlake Carroll Dragons.
The phone in the Lufkin I.S.D. ticket office has been busy and, now that ticket sales are underway, so are ticket office workers. There is no limit on the number of tickets the district can sell, but there is a limit on the number of tickets you can buy. Tickets are limited to six per person. In a telephone conversation, Stephen F. Austin State University's Athletic Director, Robert Hill, said, "Only 18,000 tickets will be sold for this game."
The game starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at SFA's Homer Bryce Stadium in Nacogdoches. The gates open at 10 a.m. According to Hill, advance tickets can only be purchased at the respective high schools. Tickets are $6 for students and $8 for adults. General Admission tickets are being sold at the L.I.S.D. Transportation office from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.
The school expects to sell 7,500 advance tickets. Southlake Carroll expects to sell that many as well. Any unsold tickets after 5 p.m. Friday will be sold for $10 each at the SFA ticket booth beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday.
The undefeated Lufkin Panthers are coming off a 38-28 win over Copperas Cove. Southlake Carroll maintains its unblemished record after defeating Plano 37-27 to advance to Saturday's 5-A Division II semi-final contest.
