Bush wins Heisman Trophy
NEW YORK (AP) Southern California's Reggie Bush spent the college football season running away from defenders. Tonight he ran away with the Heisman Trophy. The Southern California running back easily outpointed two quarterbacks to win the 71st Heisman Trophy award. Vince Young of Texas and teammate Matt Leinart , who won the Heisman last year.
Bush got 784 out of 923 first-place votes to garner 25-hundred 41 points. That easily beat runner-up Young, who had 16-hundred eight points. Leinart finished third with 797 points. Points are allocated on a three-two-one basis for first, second and third.
Bush averaged nearly nine yards a carry while running for 16-hundred 58 yards in leading the Trojans to another undefeated season. Top-ranked Southern California has a 34-game winning streak and will play Young's second-ranked Texas team in the Rose Bowl on January fourth for the national championship.
