Long Time Lufkinite Announces Commissioner Candidacy

A long time Lufkinite has thrown his hat into the race for Angelina County Commissioner of Precinct 4.

Scott Cooper made the announcement Tuesday in front of friends, family, and supporters at Lufkin City Hall. Cooper is campaigning on the Republican ticket. If elected, he plans to participate in the planning and guidance of various projects that will improve the county.

Cooper said his longtime experience in technology and journalism qualifies him for the job.

"There are many things that the commissioners court can be doing that it's not," he said. "Working together with the other community institutions, like the city, to focus our direction on prosperity for the community; and that should be one of the major goals of the commissioners court - to work for the prosperity of Angelina County."

Cooper is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University. He studied communication and computer science.
