Vendors Prepare for Fireworks Season

by Ramonica R. Jones

In just a few hours, all kinds of sparklers, noise makers, and rockets will go on sale. The second fireworks season of the year kicks off Tuesday.

Shooting fireworks is a popular New Year's activity, but there is still a burn ban in Angelina County so vendors have some safety advice you should follow before you light up.

Vendor, George Williams, said, "If you'll stay away from the fields that are heavily grassed over and shoot your fireworks during the time that we have a high moisture content, such as in the evening or time of dew or frost, we don't expect to have a problems."

Nacogdoches County does not have a burn ban, but county leaders have banned the sell or use of skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins until further notice.
