Changes in Power

by Jessica Cervantez

When your power goes out in East Texas, a new system will make it easier for one power company to know. The goal is to get your power back on faster.

The new system will let TXU workers know when power is out by using sensory detection. Normally, a customer would have to call to let the power company know when the power is out.

The new technology will not be in place until sometime in 2007.

But, it should make life easier for TXU customers.

Bob Brown, with TXU Electric Delivery, said, "We will just monitor our wire station. We will be able to see and sense where that is, and should be able to respond faster and keep the interruption from lasting as long as it is."

TXU and Current Communications are also creating a broadband system you will eventually be able to get through a power line.
