Last Minute Shoppers, and Guess Who They Are

by Jessica Cervantez

It is the Wednesday before Christmas, but a lot of people still have shopping left to do. Many East Texas stores will even be open on Christmas Eve to handle the last minute rush.

Susan Coats, the manager of the Belk Department Store, said, "We are going to open at 7:00 a.m. and we'll have a full staff, but we will be closing at 6:00 p.m."

If you look around, you would see a lot of men roaming through the stores this week. Perfume seems to be a popular purchase. Most men say they are shopping for loved ones and family members.

Brian McClain and Taxi Hundley say they always wait to the last minute.

Some shoppers are driving a long way to find holiday gifts. Two sisters drove from Cushing to shop in Lufkin.

Velma Nicol said, "We're shopping for those hard to please people."

The last minute shoppers say it does not matter when you shop, as long as you get the gifts wrapped and under the tree by Christmas morning.
