Autopsy Report Released on Bullard Basketball Player

by Ramonica R. Jones

An autopsy report has been released for a high school student who died after collapsing during a basketball game. The preliminary report shows Larry Prentice died from an enlarged heart.

The Bullard High School sophomore was playing basketball Tuesday night in the Hudson gym, when he suddenly collapsed on the court. The 16-year-old was rushed to a Lufkin hospital where he died.

Lufkin police lieutenant Greg Denman said, the "...normal heart being something in the range of 400 grams, he came out in the 600 range, so that's going to be the estimated cause of death."

The superintendent of Bullard I.S.D. called Prentice a very popular young man and a good student leader on campus.
