All over the state, police departments are having trouble finding recruits.
Officers say it is because the tests are getting more difficult to enter the force, and not enough prospects are trying out. Many agencies are looking for recruits from other agencies.
On Wednesday, 13 people who want to be officers took the written test in Lufkin. Only eight passed. Six of the eight recruits passed the running and agility part. They still have to go through a scenario part, a background check, an interview process, and much more.
The Lufkin Police Department is expected to have three openings in the department.
