Two in Custody After Shooting

A Diboll resident is still in the hospital after being shot in a car. That shooting happened over the weekend.

Two suspects are in custody. 19-year-old David Jackson and 20-year-old Robert Bennett are accused of shooting the victim while driving down Highway 59.

Investigators say the people involved in the shooting have had problems with each other before. It is believed shots were exchanged between people in two cars as they traveled down the highway. The victim was shot in the back.

Lt. Greg Denman, of the Lufkin Police Department, said the bullet traveled in the back area through the spine. Denman reports that the victim is probably paralyzed.

Police are not releasing the victim's name.
