FEMA is no longer paying the bill for thousands of hurricane evacuees who have been living in Texas hotels.
Storm victims who registered for an authorization code from the agency can remain in the hotels until at least February 13th. Hotel managers posted notices under evacuees' room doors Tuesday morning letting them know about the February 7th deadline.
FEMA gave out authorization codes for more than 20,000 hotel rooms, giving those evacuees an extension. About 5,000 evacuees nationwide did not contact the agency by a January 30th deadline. They are being told to pack up.
