Rotary Clubs

 What is Rotary?

  • An organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill peace in the world.
  • The world’s first service club.  The first Rotary club was founded in Chicago, IL. On February 23, 1905!
  • Rotary is 1.2 million service-minded men and women belonging to nearly 27,000 Rotary clubs in virtually ever nation in the world.
  • Weekly meetings for fellowship and interesting, informative programs with topics of local and global importance.  Membership is by invitation and reflects a wide cross-section of community representation.
  • Clubs plan and carry out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs that touch people’s lives in their local communities and world communities.
  • A foundation which annually provides some $60 million for international projects large and small that improves the quality of life for millions.

Rotary is a great bargain!

Once a week you can sit down for an hour with a fine group of friends whose principle objective is service to others, your community and the less fortunate.

Rotary International is in the same business.  One of our main goals is stamping out polio and several other communicable children’s diseases worldwide!  In 1988 Rotary’s anti-polio efforts resulted in no new cases of polio in the western hemisphere.  It is hard to believe, but Rotary inoculated one million children in one country in a single day!

Individuals can by themselves be of great service, but the right group of individuals such as Rotarians can do more collectively than those who are engaged in their separate activities.  The millions of children saved from polio was accomplished by thousands of Rotarians who joined together for a common cause.  Wouldn’t you like to participate in such a worthy organization?
