Lufkin Firefighter Released from Hospital After Wreck

A fire captain who crashed a fire truck Thursday in Lufkin is now recovering at home. Authorities still don't know why the man passed out at the wheel.

The Lufkin firefighter crashed his truck after he lost consciousness while driving on a busy road. Engine 7 was headed north on South First Street in Lufkin when the truck crashed into a light pole. That pole fell onto a truck parked in front of the adult probation department.

The fire captain was rushed to a hospital and later released.
