New Aquatic Center to be Built in Lufkin

The Boys and Girls Club of Lufkin is getting an indoor pool facility. The aquatic center will be similar to one in Nacogdoches.

It'll be built next to the club on Angelina Street in Lufkin, but it'll be available for the entire community year round. Construction of the new aquatic center starts in April. It should take about eight months to complete.

Jeff Woods, executive director, said, "The pool will serve the entire community - from babies to senior citizens - and offer various programs for the whole community. It'll probably be the only indoor swimming pool in Angelina County and so we expect it to get a lot of usage. We expect Angelina County to certainly enjoy this new project."

If you'd like to help with this $900,000 project, call the Boys and Girls Club or drop off a donation at any one of the local centers.
