Welding Class Headed to Competition

A welding class at Lufkin High School is preparing for competition.

Since the beginning of the year, they have been working hard to make a bar-b-que pit to enter into a skills competition. The pit that resembles a Coke bottle will travel to Beaumont on Thursday where they hope to take a first place trophy.

Taylor Haney, a senior, said, "We are still down to the final touches. It has been a lot of work, we are now up to 11 guys, we started out with just three."

The class has put about a thousand man hours into the project, staying after school and working on Saturdays.
