East Texans Get Ready for Rain

Rain is on the way for most of East Texas, but county leaders say it won't completely stop drought conditions plaguing the area since last summer.

The ground isn't as dry as it has been for the past few months, but it's still not where it needs to be moisture-wise.

County Judge Joe Berry said, "Certainly, we're hoping we're gaining ground and the rainfall that we've received in the last week or two has certainly been beneficial, but all it takes is a few days of sunshine and wind blowing and we're right back where we started from."

Because of improving conditions, most burn bans in East Texas have been lifted, but if you do burn in your yard, you should still watch your fire closely and never leave it unattended.
