As the primary election gets closer we are seeing more political advertising in East Texas.
One of the races is getting a lot of attention because of the negative ads being run. That is the race for state representative of district 9 between Incumbent Roy Blake, Jr. and Wayne Christian.
Ken Collier, a Stephen F. Austin State University associate professor of political science, said, "They come out every year, and everyone is really unhappy to see them, but they keep coming back because they work. People dislike negative ads, but those are the ads that people remember and it really draws a distinction between their candidates and them."
