Hemphill Man Sentenced to Prison for Murder

An East Texas man on trial for murder has been convicted for killing a Hemphill resident.

The trial for 23-year-old Michael Bailey, also of Hemphill, lasted less than two days. A jury found him guilty of murder and sentenced him to 99 years in prison.

Bailey also has to pay a $10,000 fine.

He killed Tommy Douglas Arnold last May. Authorities said Bailey shot Arnold twice after an argument involving Bailey's half-sister.
