Lufkin Will Not be the Site of FutureGen

The City of Lufkin has been dropped from a list of potential sites for FutureGen. FutureGen is being planned as the world's first near-zero emissions power plant.

The federal agency behind FutureGen requested 400 acres to build the facility, but Lufkin only had 150 acres to offer.

City leaders will do an exit interview with the company to find out what their strengths and weaknesses are. They said FutureGen was complimentary of the Angelina County site that was selected for the company and of the city's efforts to bring FutureGen to Lufkin.
