Positive Job Outlook

There is good news for East Texans looking for jobs. A new employment outlook survey shows area employers are expecting to hire workers at a steady pace in the coming months.

LeeAnn Castilaw, the Manpower branch manager, said, "Construction is going to be really up, retail will go up, as you see Lufkin is growing and we have all these new businesses come in."

For the next few months, 37% of employers surveyed said they expect to increase their workforce. Companies like Manpower, help you find a job.

Julia Collins, who found a job through Manpower, said, "My husband and I moved to Texas so that he could attend SFA. So, I came to Manpower looking for employment and ended up getting a job with Manpower, so, now, I'm actually a staffing specialist."

Across the state, about 30% of employers expect to hire more workers. Placement specialists say it is important to be patient.

Castilaw said, "The jobs are out there, it's just meeting the qualifications. The employers are asking for clean criminal histories, they must pass a drug test, and a high school diploma is popular."
