Security has been increased at Nacogdoches High School. That is happening after 15-students were arrested Monday in what is being called a riot at the school.
Six students were arrested and booked into the Nacogdoches County jail. School police investigators believe the fight stemmed from unresolved issues between Nacogdoches students and New Orleans students, now attending classes at Nacogdoches High School, because of the hurricane.
Nine other juveniles were also arrested, five were released to their parents, the other four taken to a detention center. They have all been charged with rioting and have been suspended for three days.
There will be extra security officers and administrators on campus for the rest of the week. School officials plan to meet with parents about the incident. About a hundred students were said to be involved in the fight.
