Immigration Laws

by Jessica Cervantez

Hundreds of Texas students, once again, spent the day protesting.

They are not happy about new laws being considered to crack down on illegal immigrants. The United States house has passed a bill that would make illegal immigrants in this country felons. That is sparking outrage in the Hispanic community. Both the house and senate are trying to reach a compromise on immigration reform.

As the rallies continue across the country, we asked East Texans what they thought about immigration laws.

One East Texan said whatever the laws are they need to be followed. Another said, the laws are there for a reason, and in order to keep everyone safe, they need to be obeyed.
