Sentence Handed Down and Arrest Made

A Shelby County man has been given a life sentence. James Loomis was found guilty of violating the terms of his probation for sexual assault of a child. Last month Loomis fled to Colorado with his girlfriend and her three children, but eventually turned himself in. He had been ordered to stay away from children. Loomis began serving his sentence immediately. He plans to appeal.

Nacogdoches Arrest

A Nacogdoches woman is in jail for felony theft after stealing checks from a mailbox. Theresa Fields was first suspected of about 30 forgeries. An investigation revealed the checks she was using were stolen from a mail box. Fields was arrested last year for stealing mail to open charge accounts. Police remind citizens that mail theft is on the rise all over the country.
