Tanker Accident Shuts Down Highway

Authorities, the Nacogdoches fire department and hazmat teams were on the scene much of Saturday afternoon trying to clean up a chemical spill caused by a big tanker accident.

TxDot had to redirect traffic on highway 59 and 259 just outside of Nacogdoches. Authorites say Saturday morning the driver of the tanker truck collided with the guardrail on the overpass. The truck flipped on its side, spilling a hazardous chemical. The driver walked away unharmed.

Authorities shutdown the overpass while hazmat teams worked on a clean up that took hours.  The hazardous spill from the tanker is not a danger to the public.
