Lufkin Church Sells Gas to Win Souls

by Larry Little

Members of Lufkin First Assembly of God Church blocked off the parking lot at the Chevron gas station on the loop and then the price of regular unleaded gas dropped to $1.99.

Folks packed the parking lot about an hour early to get the cheap gas. Church members also pumped the gas for customers. There was even some window cleaning.

"The church itself is happy as you can see we've been able to touch people we wouldn't normally be able to touch. We are influencing the community with gas and through the gas we are being able to reach people for the kingdom of Jesus Christ," says Alvin Vanderlees.

The church purchased $2400 worth of gas from the station.
