Lufkin Middle School Shows Support

by Jessica Cervantez

Some students at Lufkin Middle School are showing their support in the immigration debate by wearing bracelets that are red, white, and blue. A Spanish class at the school is making those bracelets.

Andrea Huerta, a sixth grader said, "We made them because they represent the colors of the United States flag, because that's where we want to stay."

Jesus Gomez, another sixth grader, said, "I don't think you should leave school, because TAKS is coming up, and you really need to get an education, because education is power."

Some students also wore white shirts as a symbol of peace.
