Allergies Affecting Kids

by Jessica Cervantez

Springtime allergies are hitting East Texas kids hard this year.

Pediatricians are seeing a lot of allergy cases. If kids play outside, pollen can cause trouble.

But, things inside the home can have an even bigger impact.

Dr. Jeff Glass, a pediatrician, said, "It's a lot of the indoor allergens that really get the kids. A lot of the dust mites and those kinds of things are very common problems. Things you can do for that are having plastic bed covers, or washing bed covers regularly, throwing out old carpet and cleaning old carpet."

For children more than two-years-old, nasal spray can help control allergy problems.
