Adidas Answers Nike's Complaint

A well-known shoe company has answered a complaint filed on behalf of another athletic shoe maker citing patent infringement.

Adidas filed a response and a motion to transfer venue. Nike filed a complaint against Adidas back in February in Lufkin's federal court. A Nike spokesperson said the suit was filed there because both Oregon companies have done business in Texas and the Eastern District court has developed expertise in patent protection.

Nike patented a specific cushioning device for shoes back in 2000. Nike said Adidas later used that same patent for a brand of its footwear.

The patent infringement trial will start as soon as possible.
