Popular Nightclub Destroyed in Fire

Firefighters fought to control a fire at club Jitterbugs in Nacogdoches. It happened just after 7 AM Sunday morning . "The first engine arrived, heavy smoke was showing. We brought in five engines. We tried an interior attack at three different points. It was just too far advanced", says Captain Terry Westmoreland.

Fire investigators say the advanced fire swept through the entire building in minutes destroying everything. The nightclub was reduced to rubble. It was a popular hangout for many folks, some of them were at the club last night. "I got a call this morning, and I came down as soon as I could," says Phillip Hall.

For the past four years, Phillip Hall was a bartender at Jitterbugs for four years. "There are a lot of great memories. I remember we used to pack the house with 2000 people, just college students having a great time a lot of fun," says Hall.

Fire investigators don't know what caused the morning fire but say this club that meant so much to so many people is a total lost.
