LISD to Focus on Minority Recruitment

The Lufkin Independent School District works hard to hire well-qualified teachers. With those same standards, they are now focusing on their minority recruitment.

LISD held a reception for their new teachers in the district. The 40 teachers have now completed their first year in the classroom.

LISD is committed to hiring the best teachers for the job, and working hard on recruiting minority teachers.

Betsy Dominguez, who is a Hispanic teacher, said it's important to have minorities in the classroom because sometimes it makes kids comfortable to approach her and she can talk to Spanish speaking parents.
