by Donna McCollum

An argument over loud music between two housemates apparently led to murder. A man has now been arrested for the crime. Jose Lopez-Perez, 24, is in the Nacogdoches County jail for murder. Authorities believe he used a large hunting knife to stab David Diaz, 37. Lopez was mad Diaz was playing loud music and keeping him awake.

The argument happened at 1740 Briarforest sometime between midnite and 2:00 Thursday morning. The stabbing severed a main artery. Lopez staggered into the front yard hoping to get some help from nearby neighbors. He apparently bled to death. His body was discovered at daybreak. Neighbors called the man's father who came to the scene and notified authorities.

On Wednesday Lopez-Perez' bond was set at $500,000.
