State School Hosted Prayer Ceremony

The National Day of Prayer was a week ago, but some East Texas residents gathered Thursday for their own private ceremony.

Employees at the Lufkin State School observed the event in their chapel. Each year they hold their own ceremony a week later to avoid conflicting with area ministers who take part in the city's annual ceremony.

The group prayed for national, state, and local leaders, and the families of men and women with loved ones fighting overseas.

This year's guest speaker was Chaplain Robert Hendricks. He is the chaplain coordinator for the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
