Herty Primary Trains Special Olympians Young

Herty primary is participating in a nationwide pilot program to get athletes trained for the special Olympics early.

Tuesday was "Future Star Sports Day" for the Herty and Slack students. It is a young athlete program that lets the students use numerous skills, so when they turn 8-years-old they are ready for the special Olympics. The 3 to 5-year-olds used motor, balancing, coordination, and many other skills.

The students, parents, and teachers were all having fun.

Herty is one of a few schools in the state who participated in the program.
