Teen Convicted of Sister's Murder

A 16-year-old Polk County boy has been convicted of killing his little sister. A jury found the teen guilty of murder and injury to a child. He was sentenced to 24 years on the murder count and 20 years on the second charge. Those sentences will be served concurrently at the Texas Youth Commission.

The teen shot Frankee McCarty to death last year in front of their home in Leggett. They were playing with a loaded 9-millimeter pistol when the gun went off, killing Frankee. She died at the scene after being shot in the head.

After the shooting, Frankee's mother, Kimberlee McCarty, was also arrested and charged with making firearms accessible to a minor.
