Alcohol Petition Circulating Around Angelina County

An East Texas man is leading a campaign to make Angelina County wet. Thousands of East Texans have already signed Oscar Dillahunty's petition to allow alcohol sales in Angelina County.

He set up a booth at the courthouse annex Tuesday in Lufkin where he collected even more signatures.

Dillahunty believes people are going to drink regardless of where they have to buy their alcohol, so he wants to let the county collect some of that money and divide it among several cities.

Dillahunty said, "At this time, we have over 4,500 confirmed signatures that are registered voters. We will need 7,000 to get it on the ballot in November."

Dillahunty said allowing alcohol sales in Angelina County would bring in more than $15-million a year.
