New High School Principal Named

The announcement of a new high school principal in Nacogdoches is one school's loss and another school's gain.   McMichael Middle School principal Dennis Williams is accepting the high school position. Williams served for only one year at McMichael. He's noted for establishing firm dress and behavior requirements. He's also been recognized for his fair treatment of students, parents and teachers.

NISD interim superintendent David Sharp said, "For consistency in the district and to get the district moving forward I felt like it was necessary to go ahead and make a reassignment because we have person on board here that is doing a great job and will make a great high school principal."

The search for a new middle school principal is underway. Meanwhile, Tuesday through Thursday interviews continue with prospective candidates for the district's superintendent job. The goal is to have someone hired before the start of school.
