AB/C Needs a New Director

by Ramonica R. Jones

A Lufkin woman who has worked hard to keep Angelina County beautiful and clean is stepping down from her job.

Krista Cloonan is leaving her position as executive director of Angelina Beautiful/Clean for a position with TxDot. She'll be an administrative assistant for the maintenance department there.

Cloonan has been with AB/C for three years. She said her replacement should be very energetic and enthusiastic.

Cloonan said, " It was a hard decision to make. Once you get in this organization, it's in your blood and you pretty much follow throough with it and you're going to stay with it. I certainly believe in the mission [and] enjoy what I'm doing here, but just got an opportunity that I didn't think I could refuse."

Cloonan has helped organize many community fundraisers over the years, including the 'Wanna-be-Fishing' Tournament. That tournament raises money for local charities.

This year's event will be held Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Pre-registration will take place before noon at Love's Travel Stop on South Medford in Lufkin. The weigh-in will start at 8:00 p.m. at the travel stop.
